August has been an extraordinary month for the sheer volume of fish; dives have been replete with tiny baitfish shimmering in schools over the reefs, which in turn attract larger predators such as tuna, jacks, and sharks. Have you ever seen a manta mating train? Our June highlights video features footage of this amazing phenomenon where females gracefully swoop and do barrel rolls to see which males are able to keep up with her. Enjoy as well the chilled-out turtles, sharks and eagle rays who also filled our dives with joy this month!
Scuba diving in the Maldives in Laamu atoll is very special – since there are no other dive operators or liveaboards around we almost guaranteed have the dive site for ourselves.

Hairy Shrimps (Phycocaris simulans) in the Maldives
We recently found quite a few hairy shrimps (Phycocaris simulans) on the house reef at Six Senses Laamu and on one dive site nearby. We even spotted a strange spotted shrimp and the very rare green shrimp! Muck diving in the Maldives 🙂 Filmed on a Canon C200 with Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L and Nauticam SMC-2.
